Award Opportunities
The Mike Campbell Exemplary Leadership Award Recipients
The Mike Campbell Exemplary Leadership Award is named in honor of Mike Campbell, a long time middle level administrator in Cobb County, Georgia. Mike was also past president of the Georgia Association of Middle School Principals and past president of the Georgia Association of Educational Leaders. The award is presented to those middle level administrators who have shown exemplary leadership in both their local schools and their professional organizations.
The GAMSP Effective Middle School Program Award
The GAMSP Effective Middle School Program Award is presented annually to those schools who best exemplify the middle school philosophy as well as academic success based on state and federal mandates.
The GAMSP Educational Patron Award
The GAMSP Educational Patron Award is presented to those business partners who have demonstrated a willingness to provide exceptional support to the local middle schools.
The Georgia Outstanding Assistant Principal of the Year Award
The Georgia Outstanding Assistant Principal of the Year Award is presented to one assistant principal annually per GAMSP district. The recipient must be an active member of GAEL and GAMSP.
The Dr. John H. Lounsbury Award
The award is named for Dr. John H. Lounsbury, the Father of the Middle School Movement in Georgia and the first dean of the Georgia College and State University, then known as Georgia State College for Women, School of Education. The award, given at the discretion of the Georgia Association of Middle School Principals Board of Directors, recognizes individuals who through their professional efforts have most supported Georgia Middle Schools and the middle school movement in Georgia.
The Middle Level NAESP/GAMSP National Outstanding Assistant Principal of the Year Award
The Middle Level National Distinguished Assistant Principal of the Year Award is sponsored by the Georgia Association of Middle School Principals and the National Association of Elementary School Principals. The award was initiated in 2011 by NAESP. The applicant must be an active member of NAESP, GAEL, and GAMSP to apply for this honor. The applicant must complete the forms found on the NAESP website and submit it to NAESP for consideration by a review committee from the Georgia Department of Education.
GAMSP Georgia Distinguished Principal of the Year
The following middle school principals were finalists for the NAESP VALIC National Distinguished Middle School Principal of the Year. These outstanding principals represent their districts in our state as Georgia Distinguished Principals of the Year.
The Middle Level NAESP/GAMSP National Distinguished Principal of the Year Award
The Middle Level National Distinguished Principal of the Year Award is sponsored by VALIC, the Georgia Association of Middle School Principals, and the National Association of Elementary School Principals. The applicant must be an active member of NAESP, GAEL, and GAMSP to apply for this honor. The applicant must complete the forms found on the NAESP website. The recipient will be the Georgia middle school principal representative at the NAESP National Distinguished Principal of the Year Ceremony in October in Washington, DC.
